On Wednesday the 7th of October the two 6th Year Biology classes and the Agricultural Science class took part in an ecology tour of the world famous Dublin Zoo. The tour was organised as part of a revision trip to put theory into practise. It demonstrated all of the Ecology procedures required for the Leaving Certificate Biology course. On Friday 11th September Ms. Chaney, Luke and I attended the Ambassador Schools award ceremony at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park. On behalf of the Student Council, Luke and I accepted the award for Fingal Community College. It was a fantastic event. It was an honour to be there representing our school, especially after all of our hard work. It was amazing to see forty five different schools from all around Ireland receiving their Cycle Against Suicide Ambassador School status. Jan O’Sullivan TD, Minister for Education and Skills visited Fingal Community College on Tuesday 19th May to present the Mathletes trophy to the winning team of students. Participation in Mathletes has transformed the teaching and learning of mathematics in our school and has made maths fun and engaging. Students took part in an exciting artistic revolution on Friday the 24th of April 2015. The Recreate Revolution was co-hosted by TY students , art teacher Ms. Lynch and Recreate from Ballymount. This so called "revolution" encourages students to reuse recycled materials in a creative way. The TY invited 4th and 5th class students from local Educate Together Primary Schools to a workshop to become part of the process. Students designed and built a futuristic city using recycled materials. TY Students and Teachers who took part in Darkness into Light It has been an action packed year for students with various activities to promote general fitness, positive mental health and healthy eating. The PE and Home Economics departments have collaborated and developed many exciting initiatives to help maintain a healthier and active lifestyle. Transition Year students are taking part in the Gaisce awards with many of them doing the couch to 5k as part of their physical recreation challenge.
