Day 1 (Triacastela - Sarria)  Twenty seven students and three teachers started on their Camino adventure on the 27th of April 2016 with their bags packed and with happy faces we all set off to tackle this challenge ahead of us. 1916 Remembered in FCC

Fingal Community College joined in the national commemorations of 1916 by hosting several events throughout the year. The History Department spent many months planning and organising events such as the Raising of the Flag, a Drama and Musical Concert, participation in the Fingal 1916 parade, Art Competitions, Creative Arts Workshops, debates and many more. Newly composed poems and songs were written by many talented students also. Throughout the year the History noticeboard was updated with newspaper articles, photographs and maps concerned with the 1916 Rising. Hallelujah in the National Concert Hall

The school choir participated in the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB Festival of Music on Monday, 7th March. The event took place in the National Concert Hall. It was a showcase of the many talented students in Fingal Community College and surrounding schools. The choir worked very hard in the preparation for the event with two or three rehearsals a week as well as some Saturdays. A Big Thank You

2nd Years chatting and enjoying their lunch. On Friday the 29th of January, students, teachers and parents were treated to a sit down lunch as a celebration of the wonderful efforts made by all at a recent Parents’ Association fundraising activity. A massive €3,381 was raised before Christmas at the annual bag packing event in Dunnes Stores in the Pavilion, Swords. The money raised will go towards the promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and the development of the extensive extra-curricular programme available at the college. Back to School for Temple Street

6th Year LCVP Class   On Friday October 23rd the teachers wore the school uniform for the day. They did this in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital.  This was a result of a two week fundraising campaign led by the 6th year LCVP class. As part of their Enterprise Action Plan, they decided to raise funds and awareness for Temple Street Children's Hospital. They managed to convince the teachers to agree to wear the uniform for the day if they raised a minimum of €500. In the end they managed to exceed their target and raise €840. Learning into Practise

On Wednesday the 7th of October the two 6th Year Biology classes and the Agricultural Science class took part in an ecology tour of the world famous Dublin Zoo. The tour was organised as part of a revision trip to put theory into practise. It demonstrated all of the Ecology procedures required for the Leaving Certificate Biology course. When we entered the Zoo we were divided into two separate groups, then given an equipment pack and a map. Ambassadors for Positive Mental Health

On Friday 11th September Ms. Chaney, Luke and I attended the Ambassador Schools award ceremony at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park. On behalf of the Student Council, Luke and I accepted the award for Fingal Community College. It was a fantastic event. It was an honour to be there representing our school, especially after all of our hard work. It was amazing to see forty five different schools from all around Ireland receiving their Cycle Against Suicide Ambassador School status.
