“When They Go Low!” TY Play 2019

Written by Ally Narra (TY) The Transition Year Drama group and their Drama teacher Mr D. O'Loughlin showcased their play 'When They Go Low' by Natalie Mitchell on Thursday 31st January. The play focused on feminism and standing up for women's rights. The play had a great story line, 'Boys rating the Girls based on looks', along with an outstanding cast of students who took part in this annual occasion, from acting to directing to music and backstage support. Intercultural Day 2019

Written by Cassandra Carey (3rd year Sonas) As a part of Wellbeing Week, our teachers and other staff members organised a culture day as a way to celebrate and understand the many different counties and cultures that so many of our students originate from. The countries involved in culture day were Poland, Latvia, Ireland, Nigeria, Croatia, Angola, Ghana, Brazil, Germany, Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Russia, Philippians, Scotland and South Africa. Exercise Energize 2018

On Tuesday 25th September, 40 of our female students in 3rd year attended 'Exercise Energize' multi-sports day. This fantastic event was held in the National Indoor Athletics Arena, with the aim of targeting teenage girls and motivating them to keep up sport and exercise. Our lucky ladies had the opportunity to try sports such as Gymnastics, High Jump, Long Jump, Circuits, Javelin, Running and Zumba! Thank you to Ms. Hennelly and Ms. Mahony for organising this initiative.

If you thought for one second that our TY programme had eased up as we approach the end of the year, then you are in for a surprise! TYs are as busy as ever! As you may have seen on our Facebook page, our TYs are currently undertaking a Creative Engagement project to create a beautiful outdoor reading space adjacent to the school library. Spraoi Rith 2018

On Friday 23rd March we held our annual Spraoi Rith (Fun Run) with an Easter dress-up theme. The 5k run/walk was organized by TY students, the PE Department (Mr. Moore, Ms. Hennelly & Ms. Mahony) and the Sports Council. 1st years students were assigned to TY students and accompanied by 13 teachers and SNAs on the trek past the estuary towards Malahide Rugby Club and back to the school again. World Heritage Day 2018

On Wednesday 21st Match, as part of Wellbeing Week, Fingal CC hosted a World Heritage Event in the school hall. This event, organized by Ms. Rooney on behalf of the Wellbeing Committee, saw students celebrate and promote their identity and culture within Fingal CC. Students were invited to apply for a 'stall in the hall' to promote their heritage. The students who took part displayed national flags, photographs, and phrases in their native languages, as well as objects from their country such as money (Swiss Francs), passports, dolls (Russia) and books (Germany). Wellbeing Week 2018

On Wednesday 21st, Wellbeing Week 2018 kicked off with students receiving colourful wristbands with the indicators of Wellbeing under the new Junior Cycle: Resilient, Connected, Respected, Active, Aware and Responsible. On the same day, students also took part in a World Heritage Event (see individual post) to reinforce the indicators of Connected and Respected, as well as celebrating the culturally rich student population in Fingal CC.
