Fingal’s Wellbeing “Pop-Up Restaurant”
On Friday the 3rd of March, students, teachers and parents of Fingal Community College were treated to a sit down lunch as a celebration of the wonderful efforts made by all at a recent Parents’ Association fundraising activity. A massive €7000 was raised before Christmas at two bag packing events in Dunnes Stores in the Pavilion, Swords. The money raised has/will go towards the promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and the development of the extensive extra-curricular programme available at the college. To date a fully equipped gym has been set up and several basketball kits have been purchased with the money.
A “pop up restaurant” was created by the Transition Years students and their Art teacher Ms. Lynch. Months of planning and organising helped to make this meal a success. Many Home Economics classes got involved; First Year students made Apple Pies, Second Year students made Chilli Con Carne and Fifth Year students made Chicken Curry. There was a great atmosphere in the school as the whole school community worked together to feed more than 100 people.
The tables had teamwork inspired quotes and were decorated with bright cheerful daffodils, candles and napkins. Students, parents and teachers enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the chance to sit back, chat and enjoy good food after a busy week. Thanks to all the parents who took the time to attend this event. Special thanks Claire Ralph who spearheaded the bag packing events.
