As we finish up for our February midterm break, it is always good to look back at all of the fantastic trips, activities and initiatives that have happened in the school this term. Our Facebook page (@FingalCC2017) and our Twitter page (@FingalCC) are the first port of call for all of your up to date news and photos.
Healthy Eating Week – 18th January saw the launch of Healthy Eating Week throughout the school with motivational posters, home workouts, healthy swaps and sugar investigations posted around the corridors. Students took part in extra sports activities such as Zumba as well as healthy sandwich making sessions.
Parent-Teacher Meetings – We had 2 PTMs this term for 3rd years and 1st years. Parent-Teacher meetings are vital for face-to-face feedback of how students are doing so far and how they can continue to achieve their potential in the future and we thank each and every parent who took the time to come and speak to us.
Culture – Students of TY and Leaving Certificate Spanish had the opportunity to enjoy tapas in Havana Cafe after viewing Spanish film Le Jaula de Oro (The Golden Dream) in the IFI. TY students also had the chance to go for a Japanese meal as part of their introduction to the language this year.
Cycle Against Suicide – The Student Council attended the Cycle Against Suicide seminar in the 3Arena as well as hosting Schools Go Orange Day.
Art – TY Art students launched their Art Exhibition in Fingal County Council in January. Fantastic recognition of their talent and hard work!
Concern Debates – Our Concern Debates team faced our final debate of the League Phase against Marian College on 25th January. The team won unanimously bringing their score sheet to four wins out of four! The team face Loreto Dalkey in a Playoff Debate on Tuesday 20th February. Good luck team!
Mocks – Our 3rd and 6th year students sat their Mock Exams in the final two weeks of the term. All of the students received a ‘care package’ with advice and necessary supplies to set them up for a successful run of exams. A much appreciated initiative from Ms. Mahony and Ms. Hennelly.
Sport – The Sports Council launched lunchtime activities to promote sport, fitness and wellbeing in the school. Girls activities are held every Tuesday and boys activities are every Wednesday. Our 1st year Boys Football team had a fantastic 8-1 win over St. Joseph’s CBS! Go team!
Artistic Performance – Our 1st year A.P students travelled to the Mill Theatre in Dundrum to watch a production of ‘Of Mice and Men‘ starring our very own English and Drama teacher Mr. O’Loughlin.
Next Term we look forward to Wellbeing Week, Concern Playoff Debate, School Tour to Italy and much, much more!
