On Wednesday 29th November, Fingal CC faced Ringsend College in our second debate of the League Phase of the Concern Debates competition.
The motion before the house was “For women to access leadership positions, gender quotas must be implemented”. Fingal CC was the opposing team for this motion.
The students making up our team on the night were Rhys Mahony (Captain), Cristina Ibusca, Sandra Preissler and Eve Mongey. Rhys and Cristina are permanent members of our Concern debate team and we were delighted to welcome Eve on board following her stellar performance in the IT Carlow debate. Special mention to Sandra who was a last minute substitute for the team but put in an outstanding performance.
The debate was a lively, interesting and very topical evening with fantastic arguments for and against the motion. Ringsend College were particularly good hosts and we wish them every success in their future debates.
Luckily Fingal CC defeated the motion on the night bringing our record to two wins in two so far. We face our next opponents Deansrath Community College at home on Thursday 7th December at 8 p.m. The motion for that debate is “China is good for Africa”. We are proposing the motion. Hopefully we can make it 3 for 3!
