Take a look at some of our images from the TY trip to Carlingford. Students participated in a range of water sports, high ropes, zip-lining, laser quest and many more team-building activities over the two days at Skypark and Carlingford Lough. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and returned today to some fantastic Junior Certificate results. We wish them a very happy and safe night of celebrations and look forward to seeing them bright and early tomorrow for classes as normal.
We are officially into our third week of teaching and learning in Fingal and already the school is a hive of activity! We would like to thank Ms. Lynch for once again organising the hugely successful Dunnes Stores Bag Pack which raised a fantastic €2639.79 for the school. Thank you to all of the teachers and students who also gave their time freely to make the bag pack such a success. Our Open Evening will be held this coming Thursday evening (14th September) from 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. for all 5th and 6th class students and their parents. We look forward [...]
Our TY students set off for Carlingford this morning for a fantastic two-day adventure. The annual Carlingford trip is one of the highlights of the Transition Year programme here in Fingal Community College, proving to be not only a fun and active excursion, but also a great team-building exercise to start the year off on a positive and productive note. Thank you to TY coordinator Ms. Lynch and teachers Ms. Buffini and Mr. Howley for giving their time so generously to accompany the students. We look forward to sharing with you all of the photos of this great trip!
Fingal's Wellbeing "Pop-Up Restaurant" On Friday the 3rd of March, students, teachers and parents of Fingal Community College were treated to a sit down lunch as a celebration of the wonderful efforts made by all at a recent Parents’ Association fundraising activity. On Friday the 17th of February, students and teachers from Fingal Community College turned their school orange for mental health awareness as part of Cycle Against Suicide’s #SchoolsGoOrange day. Fingal Community College celebrated another hugely successful ‘College Awareness Week’ this year. After being awarded the title of 21st Century School of Distinction last year, all staff and students were keen to retain the title and make the event even bigger. As a ‘College For Every Student’ (CFES) School, all staff members are working together to inform the students of the options available to them, what is required of them in order to get what they want and the challenges and rewards of getting a third level education. In the run-up to ‘College Awareness Week’ and during the week itself there [...]
On Thursday, the 22nd of September, Transition Year students, 6th Year Agricultural Science and Construction students went to the annual National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Although it was a long bus journey, students kept themselves entertained with music and banter along the way. On arrival, students quickly realised the importance of the wellie boots! Students were mesmerized by the colossal size of the event and the variety of stalls and activities. Everyone was eager to explore the range of farm animals, machinery and exhibits available including live sheep shearing displays. Agricultural Science students were assigned the task of collecting [...]
Jim Breen and Jessica It was a pretty big deal for our school to apply to participate in the Student Leaders Congress, especially our student council. It was the first time Fingal Community College really put a strong emphasis on positive mental health and asking for help if you need it. Applying to be an Ambassador School encouraged teachers and the students to talk about these issues and to share Cycle Against Suicides' message. Soon the idea of it being okay not to feel okay, and how it's absolutely okay to ask for help, was circulating around the school in a [...]

Day 1 (Triacastela - Sarria) Twenty seven students and three teachers started on their Camino adventure on the 27th of April 2016 with their bags packed and with happy faces we all set off to tackle this challenge ahead of us. Naturally we were feeling confident and shook off the first day from Triacastela to Sarria as if it was a quick pop down to the Spar for a cheeky Magnum. We arrived in the early afternoon and relaxed for the rest of the day. Day 2 (Sarria - Portomarin) Unfortunately due to the easiness of Day 1, people found it [...]
